Strategy

Buy or Build?

It used to be that there was only one way to get the application you needed to run your business. That was to build it yourself.

In the 1970s, with the advent of the IBM System 32, and other manufacturers such as Data General, Wang, Datapoint and others, generic applications started to develop. Businesses then decided to “mould” their business to suite this generic application.

Today, most companies are heavily computerised and to get a competitive edge, it is no longer sufficient to take the same package as everyone else. Many senior executives believe that you MUST use your computer systems to help you get one step ahead of your competitors.
